About
Haein Kim is a painter based in Seoul whose work moves between gestural abstraction and quiet, pared-back mark-making. Trained in traditional East Asian ink painting before turning to oil and mixed media, her practice is concerned with the moment a stroke becomes a memory.
Her works have been shown in solo and group exhibitions across Korea and internationally, and are held in private collections in Seoul, Tokyo, and Berlin.
“I paint the pause between two movements — the breath held before the brush touches the canvas. Each work begins as a gesture and ends as a place to rest.”
